Yarn Along–TML Smooshiness

A Lovely Homemade Life

I hopped on the bandwagon for the 2014 Westknits Mystery Knit Along–Exploration Station.  It calls for 4 colors of MadTosh tosh merino light.  Admittedly, I should have more closely read the recommendations for color selection, but I was working with some stash and these are the colors I ended up with.  I had purchased Faded Calico (the pink) and Trodden (the neutral) at the MadTosh flagship store last year.  My original thought had been to use them for a Follow Your Arrow, but I could never commit to a combination.  Oxblood (the purple) was a gift from my BFF when I then planned to use the original two skeins for a Litchfield (which I did knit, just in a different set of colors).

So when I saw the Westknits MKAL called for 4 colors of TML, I figured I was almost there.  A quick search of “for sale or trade” skeins on Rav uncovered a gorgeous skein of Shire (the green) which was very affordable and my quota was complete!

So…when I knit this one again (because I love knitting patterns more than once!) I think I’ll steal a collection of colors from another knitter–Knit Picks Palette in Ash, Cornmeal, Oyster and Turmeric.  I would love to show you a pic of it, but don’t want to step on any toes.  So…pics of my own to come in the future šŸ™‚

As for reading, I finally finished The Postmortal and got started on Outlander.  I’m late to the party, aren’t I?  So far it’s quite good.  I hear it’s a TV show now, but on one of those networks we don’t have access to.  Maybe it will make its way to Netflix one day?

That’s all for this week.  Don’t forget to check out the new clearance items in my Etsy shop and use coupon code FRIENDSANDFAMILY for an additional 10% off!

  1. There are some lovely combinations in the KAL projects section, but I like yours as well. That green sets off the purple and pink really nicely, I think and it looks like it's going to be a gorgeous shawl.

Everyone seems to be reading Outlander at the moment. I think I shall have to track it down for myself!

  2. I love seeing that yarn on your needles. And all the colors are looking gorgeous together. Miss you. We need to chat next week for sure. This one just got away from me.

  3. I love the colour combinations you have picked, I think they are quite bold and lovely.
I've not read the outlander books as I'm not sure that they are my thing & since I don't really watch tv too much I'm not really aware of what the programme is about.
Looking forward to seeing the completed shawl!
