Yarn Along : Shawl Take 2 and Strawberry Jam
Progress is being made on my new shawl design! I washed and blocked the first half of the prototype. I'm going to run short of yarn to complete it, but I'm considering adding a bit of a border and including the modification as a shawlette sized option. Luckily, I have no shortage of fingering weight yarn in my stash, so I got to work on a second version in Done Roving Yarns Frolicking Feet in Garnets and Rubies that I have 2 skeins of, so no worries about coming up short this time around.
Any recommendations for a name for my shawl? I usually come up with a name right away, but I'm feeling pretty stuck on this one. There's a chevron lace edging and a feather lace panel as well... And I tend to choose bird inspired names anyway, so this should be a homerun, but I'm just not coming up with anything. I'd love it if you'd leave a suggestion in the comments!
I've been so excited to add some more jams to my little stash, and Canning for a New Generation has been the perfect guidebook! There is a good mix of very traditional recipes as well as some that are fantastically creative--like the Strawberry Lavender Jam I made yesterday. (I also made Nectarine Jam last week from this book and it's so good!) I am really loving this collection of canning recipes and would highly recommend this book! And, of course, you can't eat yummy jam without some awesome homebaked bread to go with it!
Linking up with Ginny today for Yarn Along! And be sure to check out her post entitled One Dozen Shawls for Love :)
