Bluejays, Bluejays, Everywhere

Hi friends!  I’m making a rare Saturday evening post to share a few pics of my newest pattern with you–Bluejay!  To be honest, I hadn’t really been expecting to write this pattern in 2015.  I had initially released Baby Bluejay late last year as a hooded vest for babies 0-24 months.  Looking back at the pattern, one year later, I realize it was kinda…well…bad.  It was really long, gave way too much detail and the button band wasn’t quite right.  I had several people ask if there were plans for a larger version for kids, which was a great idea, but I just wasn’t sure when I’d have time to fit it in.

But…as I was preparing for the holiday gift knitting season, I wanted to be sure my best work was on offer.  I knew Baby Bluejay needed some help to bring it up to snuff, so while I was rewriting it I worked up Bluejay too.  It covers sizes 4-12 years old.  I love how these vests came out!  The finished product looks quite similar to the original, but the patterns are so. much. better!  And I can thank my fabulous tech editor Liz Halla-Mattingly for that!

We went outside today to take some pictures.  Actually, a lot of pictures…125 pictures.  And about 20 of those are usable, so I’m counting it as a win!  Photographing (my) children can be really difficult, but (as you might have noticed) rocks are amazing.  So interesting, and there are so many things you can do with them!  Including distracting children.  🙂

IMG_3277I would love it if you’d click through to Ravelry to check out the details!  Bluejay is on the first page of Rav’s Hot Right Now list, and I’d love to see it in the top 5 if we can manage.  Thank you–every click counts!

I have a few promotions running to celebrate the Bluejay‘s launch and Baby Bluejay‘s relaunch.

-For the 3700 or so of you who received Baby Bluejay for free during its introductory promotion last year, you have received the new and improved version in your Ravelry library–just click update in your library!  If you’re interested in picking up a copy of Bluejay as well, I’ve set the introductory price to just $4–there’s no code to enter!  But hurry!  This price is only good until Tuesday, Nov 10 at 11pm CST!

-For the 30 or so of you who purchased Baby Bluejay (purchases prices have ranged from $3 to $6), your previous purchase amount will count towards getting the set for a total of $6.  So if you purchased Baby Bluejay in the past for $4, simply put Bluejay in your Rav cart and it should allow you to purchase the new pattern for the difference, so $2.  (I hope that’s not too confusing!  Just drop me an email at alovelyhomemadelife (at) gmail (dot) com if you have any questions and I’m happy to help!)  There’s no code to enter for this promotion either, and you can take advantage of it at any time.

And if you don’t have either of these designs yet, I hope you’ll consider picking up the e-book, entitled Bluejay Collection that contains both patterns for just $6!

Sorry for all the nitty-gritty details!  I just want to be sure everyone has the chance to get these new patterns while they’re discounted!  These knit up quickly and would make great Christmas gifts–they’re perfect for winter layering.  Thanks for clicking–best wishes and happy knitting!
