Are you feeling swamped with Christmas crafting? I definitely overestimated the amount of time I’d have to work this month, and it’s not looking pretty. I’ve had to ax each kiddo’s sweater from the list of handmade gifts I wanted to give for Christmas, as well as their quilts. Valentine’s Day seems like a nice holiday to give quilts, right?
Now that the time is really ticking down, I’m trying to finish up two pairs of Farm Slippers and Michael’s And Then There Were Mitts. So tiny and fiddly! At least the slippers are Aran weight…but I’m going to get second sock syndrome three times over!
I also have some pretty lofty designing goals that I want to knock out in January too…but luckily I attended a great webinar by Tara Swiger about how to defeat overwhelm in your creative business, which was a total breath of fresh air! Now to just implement some of the suggestions she made and I’ll be all set, right?
And, note to self, I think I should ask for a subscription to an audiobook service next year for Christmas–I’m having the hardest time finding any spare moments to curl up with a good book. But if someone would just sit down and read it to me, I think I could be really productive!
If you’re in the mood for a fun read, or the perfect gift for the nerdy-hard-to-buy-for person in your life, might I suggest Thing Explainer: Complicated Things in Simple Words? It all started with this web comic, where a diagram of a spacecraft is explained using only the top 1000 most frequently used words in the English language. It’s clever and hysterical and will make you appreciate the vast vocabulary available to us!
So how are your Christmas hand-mades coming along? Have you been done for weeks? Is it going to be down to the wire? Are you wrapping pictures of what the FO will eventually look like, or single socks or mitts with the promise that its mate will follow? Leave me a comment and let me know! I’d love to hear from you!
