Featheround and Bowties Are Cool MKAL

I have been a busy busy bee these past few weeks and I can't wait any longer to share all of the yarnie goodness with you!  Today, I'm releasing two designs!  The first is my newest hat design--Featheround.

Featheround is a versatile hat pattern that provides lots of options to knit a special and fancy hat for yourself and everyone on your knit-worthy list! Instructions are provided for four sizes as well as options to create a voluminous, slouchy tam-style hat or a chic, fitted beanie—8 combinations in all! Use charts or written instructions (both are provided) to create the brim first, then pick up and knit stitches around the edge and work in the round towards the top! You’ll be rocking your new look in no time!  These make lovely and quick last minute gifts that are truly unique.  And they knit up in no time with DK weight yarn!

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from our photoshoot--please click through to Ravelry to see all of them and learn more (but come right back for even more news)!  Special thanks to my lovely models--my husband, son and daughter, as well as my sister-in-law and brother-in-law!

Hopefully you've scrolled down this far to see details about my second new release--the Bowties Are Cool MKAL Shawl!  If you've never done a mystery knit along, here's how it works:  I will release 5 clues over the course of 5 weeks on Thursdays, beginning January 7th (which is just after the Dr. Who Season 9 Christmas special, in case you're worried about going through withdrawals without your Dr. Who fix!).  Each Thursday you'll receive a new clue to knit that week, and at the end you'll have knit an entire gorgeous shawl!  You don't even have to be a Dr. Who die-hard-fan to join us and have a ton of fun!  The design is not so literal as to be inaccessible to the non-Whovian crowd--you're still going to love the finished piece.

So, I can't tell you very much about it, seeing as how it's a mystery and all, but you can know that it's a triangular shaped shawl that's a little bit stripey and a little bit lacy that has been designed specifically to showcase a gorgeous skein of speckled fingering weight yarn and a complementary solid or semi-solid skein.  I know it's about a month away from the release of the first clue, but I wanted to give everyone time to find the perfect yarn, not to mention time to finish up all of your last minute gift-buying and Christmas knitting!  So take the next four weeks to shop around and find the perfect combination of 2-100g skeins of fingering weight yarn! You can find more details about yarn choice on the pattern page in Ravelry.

Please rest assured that the pattern is being tech edited by the lovely Liz Halla-Mattingly as we speak so that I can provide you with a relaxing and enjoyable pattern to knit after the hectic holiday season!  I have also enlisted the help of a few of the best test knitters in the business to knit it up just ahead of you and to double, triple and quadruple check it!  I hope you'll join us for a fabulous month of fun!

I'd love to have you join us! Linking up with Ginny this week for Yarn Along and Nicole for Keep Calm Craft On.
