Have I ever mentioned how much I love giving new baby gifts? I’m not quite sure what it is, but just the potential of a brand new baby really brings out the crafty side of me. We are very comfortable with our two children and don’t plan to have any more, so it’s especially fun to send a little something for other people’s new babies!
I knit up a Baby Perdrix for each of them yesterday. I sent the free PDF download out to subscribers in my last newsletter, and I’ll send it out again next month, just in case you missed it! Be sure to sign up to receive my monthly newsletter if you’re interested in this free bonus!
The original pattern calls for Knit Picks Galileo yarn (I knit one for Ginny in Valentine red) and it’s so soft and cozy. But I also wanted to try Knit Picks’ new line–Paragon. I chose the Shoal colorway. It’s a merino/baby alpaca/silk blend and it’s lovely! It’s a bit thicker, but you can wet block it easily and it was a joy to knit with! Each hat requires less than one full 50g ball of either of these yarns and they make a great gift! And they’re really stretchy, so they’ll fit baby for quite a while.
I’m excited to get these packages in the mail and to see pics of these beautiful babies in a few more months. What’s your favorite baby gift to give and make? I’d love to hear about it–leave me a comment!
