The Yarn Haul + A Knit Along!

Hello Friend!  Is it cooling down in your part of the world?  We've finally had our first cool, crisp, rainy day here in Texas--it's about time!  I'm ready to knit ALL. THE. SWEATERS, but that's so hard when it's still nearly 100 degrees!

I had such a great time at STITCHES Texas this past weekend, and wanted to take a minute to flash my new stash and share some exciting news!  Here are my lovelies--two skeins of Brandy Velten's Long Dog Fingering Weight Yarn in Summer Bouquet & Witch's Brew, stocked by Ginger of my very favorite LYS McKinney Knittery.  I also picked up this lovely skein of Tumi alpaca/wool blend for some Belyse gloves by Ysolda Teague, a HUGE double plus skein of hand dyed worsted weight yarn by Th'Red Head Designs (which is going to have to become some lovely new shawl design--it's just fabulous!) and some rustic artisan buttons.

I was honored to be invited to hang out in the DFW Yarn Crawl booth for a bit to talk about the DFW Designer's Collection, Volume 1 that Cindy Telisak is putting together.  It's a collection of 15 designs by 14 area designers to help you use up that stash and get to know some of the locals!  It's been a bit hush hush up until this point, but I'm pleased to be able to announce that my design, Featheround, will be part of the collection as January's pick.  You can see a few details on Ravelry, and they'll hopefully be adding more about the collection very soon!

Also this week, the aforementioned Ginger and I are hosting a Bowties Are Cool Knit Along event starting this Friday!  If you're a DFW area local, we'd love to meet you at her shop - McKinney Knittery - in downtown McKinney, Texas on Fridays from 10-12pm for the next 5 weeks to knit together!  But don't worry if you're a friend from farther away--we'll also be meeting up virtually on Ravelry to chat and hang out as we knit our Bowties Shawls together!  So pick out two gorgeous skeins from your stash, snag the pattern for just $5 with coupon code KNITALONG on Ravelry and join us in this thread to get started!  It's going to be great fun!

Linking up with Ginny for Yarn Along & Nicole for Keep Calm, Craft On this week.
