Welcome to my blog, A Lovely Homemade Life! I’m Jennie, mother to two amazing kiddos, Luca age 7 and Isla age 4 and wife of 11 years to my wonderful husband Michael. Before becoming a stay-at-home-mom I taught high school French, but since transitioning to be home with the kids I’ve been pursuing my crafty interests, including designing my own line of knitting patterns and creating practical and beautiful crafting notions.
In college I learned to crochet with a bunch of my friends and began making crocheted blankets for my many relatives and their sweet babies, but my interests have become so much broader since then! I opened an Etsy shop not long after my son was born and began knitting baby cardigans and hats. Then I became interested in sewing and quilting and my works-in-progress really began to pile up! I currently create and sell beautiful and practical knitting notions in my Etsy shop, original knitting patterns on a variety of platforms (see below for links) and have just opened a shop with my sister where we sell thoughtfully made, Waldorf-inspired dolls and toys for children.
When I started this blog, my main goal was to share all about my many projects and to inspire others to get crafty too. Since those early months life has gotten much busier! We moved back to the Midwest in early 2017, and sadly, this space languished for most of that year. I sometimes envy others I see who thrive on social media – who participate happily and share their lives easily. Unfortunately, my introverted personality makes it difficult for me to sustain a high level of social media presence, despite my repeated attempts to jump in with both feet. As I come back to curating this blog, I intend to be mindful of my own limitations and endeavor to find a balance that is suitable to both my business and my temperament.
